Dr. Longoria received her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin, where she acquired training in precision health methodologies as a NIH T32 Predoctoral Fellow. Her mixed methods dissertation resulted in one of the first studies to use metabolomics analysis on maternal stool samples to explore longitudinal changes in maternal gut neurotransmitter activity and associations with postpartum depression. As a Postdoctoral Scholar, Dr. Longoria is building program of research focused on utilizing multimodal data integration techniques to advance understanding on person-environment interactions, particularly during pregnancy, that contribute to postpartum depression risk and biological origins of fetal disease risk.

With her infinite amount of free time, you can find Dr. Longoria enjoying the outdoors alongside her husband and two daughters and exercising her dry humor with family and friends. Additionally, after completing her PhD she decided to try a new sport that is dear to her husband, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. This newfound hobby has proven to be both physically and mentally rewarding but often results in her looking like a bruised banana – sans the yellow hue, thanks to her healthy liver.
